1982 Johnson 70 HP on Lake Erie in February!

This year Lake Erie didn't even come close to freezing. In fact, it was so nice out that Jay and I decided to launch at Sturgeon Point and do some fishing this past Saturday on my new 15.5' Crestliner that I picked up two weeks ago. After putting some fresh lower unit oil in it and hiring the neighbor to detail the interior, she was all ready to go. Launching at Sturgeon Point Marina was a bit of a challenge without the docks in the water, but we ended up just pulling the boat up shallow and I hopped right on the bow and took off. The 1982 Johnson 70hp ran real nice, I added one pint of 2-stroke oil to 6 gallons of 93 octane gas. At lower speeds, there was more smoke coming out of the upper exhaust than I was expecting, but maybe because it was only 34 degrees out and you could actually see it, I don't know. Maybe it was that or it was running too rich, I am going to have to mess around with it. Either way, got it to top out at 31 mph which was good enough for me.
