Pentax' first entry into the DSLR world (the oddly-named *istD), although a fine performer, failed to compete pricewise with comparable Canon or Nikon entries. The smaller and better market-positioned 6MP *istD-S (which I own) arrived too late to give the hugely successful Canon Rebel a serious run for its money; and Pentax eventually retrenched with cheaper penta-mirror products just to keep a foot in the US market (ironically, the digital Rebel series had cut costs from the start with a seldom-mentioned penta-mirror). The tradeoff for any low cost DSLR, as against the costlier pro models, was the substitution of menu-driven operations for the latter's simpler and faster buttons and dials -- a maddeningly tedious and unintuitive cost-cutter, made all the more frustrating in bright light on small LCD displays. Even selecting the focus point (grid, spot or select) meant a trip through pages of menus, not aided at all by the infamous penchant for inscrutable abbreviations. In effect, the time lost in flipping the camera to scroll through on-screen menus all too often meant either photo opportunities lost, or just reverting to a digicam's one focus mode fits all. Scarlett Johansson attended the Runway to Win event on Tuesday night in New York. The handsome man who accompanied her? None other than her twin brother, Hunter. As you might imagine, having a twin sister who happens to be a Hollywood A-lister comes with certain advantages. Hunter, who is three minutes younger than Scarlett, once told People magazine, "She tells me how girls think. When I'm stuck, I call. She's set me up on dates. It wasn't with anybody famous. It was with some school friends -- all very beautiful, wonderful girls." Hunter stays out of the public eye for the most part. He and Scarlett grew up in New York City's Greenwich Village and attended PS 41. Hunter worked as a campaign organizer for President Obama during his 2008 campaign and is also involved in the president's re-election bid.

I'm Dana Ward and when we first hear that One Direction performed on the international hit show, Dancing On Ice, we were shocked because we thought that they would be singing while ice skating and it's pretty insane to think that these dudes could be even MORE talented. Now even after seeing the footage, we're blown away because the band did a wonderful job. They took on two different tracks from their debut album, Up All Night. The show's skaters performed in front of One Direction's raised lit-up stage for What Makes You Beautiful, and we love their dapper black suits. Don't they look handsome?? Also for Dancing On Ice, 1D took on One Thing -- their newest single in the UK -- and this performance had the focus on the guys -- with no ice dancing in front... and it's so crazy that you can hear the crowd of ladies shouting support and singing along to the lyrics. They're dressed more casually in trendy shades of red, navy, whites and greys. So, of course, you can count on us to have the video below in our info section.
