110th Founding Anniversary of BOC Port of Manila 6 February 2012 President Benigno S. Aquino III called for honest public service and a continued fight against corruption during the 110th anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in the Port of Manila. Speaking before Customs officials, district collectors and importers, the President outspokenly pointed out the alleged anomalies and involvement of the agency in the smuggling of high-powered firearms, drugs, motorcycles, oil and gadgets. He said it was like a slap in his face every time he hears these reports for he constantly reiterates the government efforts towards a "Tuwid na Daan". "Ang hindi ko pwedeng matanggap ay sasampalin ang kailangan ng sambayanan, yuyurakan ang mga taong nagbigay sa atin ng pagkakataong maglingkod sa kanila," he said. "Pasensya na po kayo kung meron akong nasaktan ang damdamin pero panahon na ho sigurong tawagin ng tama ang sitwasyon. Ulit-ulitin ko lang po, yung bawat paglihis natin sa tuwid na landas, hindi ho libre yan, meron hong napapahamak. 'Yung napapahamak, pinangakuan nating paglilingkuran natin tapos ito ang isinusukli natin sa kanila," he added. President Aquino, on the other hand, commended the performance of BOC Commissioner Ruffy Biazon and the programs and operations being implemented under his leadership, including the Run After the Smugglers (RATS) Program, the Importers Voluntary Disclosure Program and the BOC Enforcement Group.
