At the age of 17, I got my first huge break when I was asked to serve as the California High School State Coordinator for Students for Barack Obama. At 18, I was elected one of the youngest politicians in California serving as an assembly district delegate. At 20, I was appointed the Co-Chair of the United Nations Youth Committee of Australia and then promoted to the Executive Director of United Nations Academic Impact ASPIRE. And now at 21, I've started my own company that has grown to 11 staff and works with international organizations to increase their impact using social media. What was the secret to my success? It was being nice. This year the TedxUChicago theme is revolutions, and I want to talk about how the characteristics of being nice can create strong networks, motivate you and bring you new opportunities to become a better leader to make a difference. In the words of Conan O'Brien, "Work hard, be nice and amazing things will happen."
