The thing about Hipster culture is that it's inherently backwards looking. We have been taught to fear the future from the constant reinforcement of apocalyptic doom coming from all media and government resources. Yes, there's global warming, overpopulation and possible Chinese insurrection looming on the horizon, but that's no reason to worship the halcyon days of the sixties when we knew even less and had the potential to be thrust into a Vietnamese killing situation. It's not that music was more relevant to mainstream culture in the Sixties, it's that you choose to perceive it that way without ever having participated in the era. At it's most basic form, it's about acting like children and experiencing the joy you felt before you were aware of the many, many, many, many problems that plague this world. The phrase 'instant nostalgia' is apt. Hey Jeff, remember all those great cartoons that we watched when we were seven and stupid? Remember how good they made us feel because we didn't have to think about their relevance? We just watched and clapped our hands, living totally in the moment as only children are capable of doing. LET'S RECAPTURE THAT SENSATION ...
